Pac-12 women’s basketball Players of the Week: Jan. 23

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Haley Jones, Sr., G, Stanford

Jones recorded a pair of double-doubles in Top 25 wins over then-No. 8 Utah (74-62) and then-No. 24 Colorado (62-49). She scored a season-high 25 points against the Utes to go with 12 rebounds and four assists. Jones then pulled down a season-high 18 rebounds and scored 11 in the win over the Buffs.

Jones played 79 of the 80 total minutes in the two games and has scored in double figures in 12 of the last 13 games, with eight double-doubles during that span.

Jones now owns 30 double-doubles in her career and is the 27th player in Pac-12 history to reach that milestone. It is Jones’ fourth career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Timea Gardiner, Fr., F, Oregon State

Playing in just her third collegiate game, Gardiner scored 15 points in 23 minutes on 7-of-10 shooting in a 68-65 victory over then-No. 23 Oregon. She hit a a top-of-the-key 3-pointer with three seconds remaining in the first half to send the Beavers into the break with a 30-27 advantage.
