Pac-12 women’s basketball Players of the Week: Jan. 2

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Rayah Marshall, So., G/F, USC

Marshall scored a career-high 33 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in a 69-58 win at Oregon State on Friday. It was the seventh 30-point, 15-rebound double-double in the NCAA this season and the first for USC since at least 1999-2000 (readily available records).

It was the first 30-point, 15-rebound double-double in the Pac-12 since Oregon’s Ruthy Hebard had 30 points and 17 rebounds at UCLA on Feb. 14, 2020.

Marshall scored 16 of the Trojans’ 18 fourth-quarter points and also had four blocks in the victory. She posted her fifth consecutive double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds at then-No. 17 Oregon on Sunday.

Marshall is tied for seventh nationally and first in the Conference with eight double-doubles this season.

Also nominated: Raegan Beers, Oregon State; Cameron Brink, Stanford; Jayda Curry, Cal; Shaina Pellington, Arizona; Kiki Rice, UCLA; Endyia Rogers, Oregon; Lauren Schwartz, Washington; Tyi Skinner, Arizona State; Aaronette Vonleh, Colorado

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Raegan Beers, Fr., F, Oregon State

Beers was the only player in the country with three double-doubles last week. She had 27 points and 10 rebounds against North Carolina Central on Tuesday, 19 points and 14 rebounds against USC on Friday and 22 points and a career-high 15 rebounds in a 77-72 victory over then-No. 10 UCLA on Sunday.

Beers’ performance against the Bruins was one of two 20-point, 15-rebound games against a top-10 opponent in the NCAA this season (Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu, South Florida vs. No. 3 Ohio State – Dec. 20) and the first in the Pac-12 since Stanford’s Cameron Brink had 25 and 15 against then-No. 8 Arizona on Jan. 30, 2022.

Beers, a Littleton native from Valor Christian, is tied for seventh nationally and first in the conference with eight double-doubles this season. It is her second Pac-12 Freshman of the Week award (Nov. 21) and Oregon State’s 14th all-time.

Also nominated: Teagan Brown, WASH; Maya Nnaji, ARIZ; Kiki Rice, UCLA.
