On the same day the Colorado women’s basketball team learned of a significant development to the program’s future schedules, the Buffaloes announced their nonconference ledger for the 2021-22 season.

The sixth season under head coach JR Payne begins on Nov. 10 with a visit to the Buffaloes’ former Big 12 Conference rival, Oklahoma State. CU and OSU have met just once since the Buffs left the Big 12 a decade ago, with the Cowgirls topping CU in the first round of the 2012 WNIT.

Although the Buffs host Colorado Mines in an exhibition game on Nov. 1, the first home game of the regular season will be on Nov. 19 against Marquette. It will be the Golden Eagles’ third visit to Boulder but their first in the regular season, following CU home matchups in the 1994 NCAA Tournament and the 2008 WNIT.

Highlighting the early ledger is the return of the Rocky Mountain Hoops Classic, CU’s home tournament that has been on hiatus since 2017. The Buffs will play Louisiana Tech on Nov. 27 and Wisconsin on Nov. 28. Boise State also will be in the field, with double-headers on both days.

“We are thrilled that we could bring our Thanksgiving tournament back to Boulder,” Payne said in a statement. “It’s great to be able to include teams from different parts of the country in Boise State, LA Tech and Wisconsin.”

CU completes nonconference play with home dates against SMU (Dec. 17) and San Francisco (Dec. 20). Also on Monday, the Pac-12 Conference announced a partnership with the Southwestern Athletic Conference to begin home-and-home series between member programs starting in the 2022-23 season.

Two weeks ago, the Pac-12 announced the weekly pairings for conference play, with the Buffs slated to begin the conference schedule visiting the Oregon schools.
