Colorado defender Hannah Sharts added to her growing list of accomplishments on Monday by being named First Team Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America, becoming the first CU soccer player to gain such an honor.
Among other awards for Sharts are CoSIDA Academic All-District, United Soccer Coaches Second Team Scholar All-America and First Team All-West Region. The Newbury Park, Calif., native, completed her undergrad this past spring in communications and is pursuing a Master’s in organizational leadership with a 4.0 GPA.
She enjoyed her best season on the field in 2021, totaling four goals early on in the season. She recorded back-to-back game-winners against Northern Colorado and Weber State and added goals in CU’s win at No. 10 California and Stanford. She finished second on the team with nine points, also assisting on the game-winning goal at Utah.
The 5-foot-11 defender led CU in minutes (1,574) this season and started every match, helping record eight total shutouts on the way to Colorado’s 12th NCAA Tournament appearance.
