For Jabari Walker, the bright side is he will be able to immediately jump into practices with his Colorado Buffaloes teammates.
Nonetheless, Walker will return to Boulder trying to shake off a little disappointment. On Thursday night, USA Basketball announced its 12-player roster for the upcoming U19 World Cup in Latvia, and Walker did not make the final cut.
Walker was one of 27 players invited to the training camp at TCU, and earlier this week he survived the first round of cuts that trimmed the training camp roster to 17. Walker, though, didn’t make the final cut for a team set to be led by TCU coach Jamie Dixon.
One player who did make the roster was Patrick Baldwin Jr., ranked as the No. 5 prospect in the nation per 247Sports.com who is scheduled to visit the CU Events Center on Dec. 10 as a freshman with Milwaukee.
The 6-foot-8 Walker earned a spot on the Pac-12 Conference All-Freshman team after averaging 7.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in 26 games off the bench. Walker shot .526 overall with a lofty .523 mark on 3-pointers (23-for-44). Walker should be able to rejoin his teammates, as head coach Tad Boyle is planning to hold practices on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
