In an overtime thriller, the University of Colorado lacrosse fell to No. 20 Stanford 10-9 at Kittredge Field on Saturday.
Colorado (2-3, 0-1 Pac-12) was led by Charlie Rudy’s three goals while Ashley Stokes added two goals. Stokes also had two assists in the loss.
“Offensively we did some things well,” said coach Ann Elliott Whidden on the team’s offensive performance. “When we were doing what we needed to be doing on and off the ball, we were successful and finding opportunities. When we got tired we were not capable of doing everything we needed to do to be successful. This is a very good Stanford team. You can’t just watch people play lacrosse. You have to be playing.”
Stanford (3-0, 2-0 Pac-12) got three goals from Mikaela Watson and Galen Lew.
“I thought defensively we stuck to the game plan and played hard,” said Whidden. “It is hard when you can’t make plays down the stretch. We have to be able to execute better.”
