CU Buffs’ Meegan Hart named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week

Colorado volleyball redshirt junior Meegan Hart has been named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.

Hart led the Buffs to a 3-1 upset of No.12 UCLA Sunday in Boulder with eight blocks, 13 kills on a .545 hitting clip, four crucial digs and an ace. In the weekend matchup she had 20 total kills and 14 total blocks. She finished off the upset on Sunday with a kill to set up match point and a solo block to finish off the Bruins.

This is Hart’s second Pac-12 weekly honor as she earned the honor after having nine kills and 11 blocks in sweeps against Iowa and No.5 Illinois in 2019. This is the first Pac-12 honor for Colorado this season, giving CU at least one honor per season back to the 2013 season.

Hart joins Naghede Abu as the only Buff to earn multiple Defensive Player of the Week honors and Abu, Gabby Simpson and Taylor Simpson as the only CU player to earn two or more Pac-12 Offensive or Defensive Player of the Week honors. Abu is the all-time leader for Colorado with three honors.
