CU Buffs, USC tied for first in Pac-12 lacrosse preseason coaches poll

Colorado and Southern California each recorded 22 points to tie for first in the 2021 Pac-12 Women’s Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll, announced by the league’s office on Thursday.

Both teams also earned three first-place nods. Behind the duo in third is Stanford, which collected 18 points. Arizona State placed fourth in the voting (13), while Oregon came in fifth (8). California rounded out the poll at sixth (7). Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own teams.

There was no regular-season champion or tournament in 2020 as the campaign was canceled in March. USC won the 2019 regular-season title (9-1) as well as the 2019 tournament championship while CU was second in the regular season (8-2) while placing second in the tournament that same year.

The 2021 campaign officially gets underway for Colorado on Thursday, Febr. 18, at Louisville. This will be the first meeting between the two teams and the game is set to begin at 1 p.m. MT. Conference play will begin March 12 for all six schools. CU will host Oregon in Boulder at 3 p.m.
