On Tuesday, the NCAA board of directors announced dates for competition and championships for the fall sports that have been postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

At Colorado, four fall sports teams now have target start dates.

For men’s and women’s cross country, the season can start on Jan. 23 and run through March 5. Postseason selections will be made March 6, with the NCAA championships scheduled for March 15.

In women’s soccer, the season will run from Feb. 3 to April 17. The NCAA tournament selections will be made April 18 and games will be held April 18-May 16.

Women’s volleyball can begin Jan. 22 and run through April 3. Selections for the postseason will be made April 4. The tournament will begin April 9, with the Final Four slated for April 23-25.

Each school will determine when to start practices.

The Pac-12 will decide soon if there will be a league championship for cross country. The league does not do league championship events in women’s soccer or volleyball.

CU’s other fall sports team – football – is still awaiting word on its season. Pac-12 presidents and chancellors are scheduled to meet Thursday and it is expected they will announce a start date that day.

According to various reports, the Pac-12 is looking at either Oct. 31 or Nov. 7 as dates for the opening games of the football season.
