Another commit for CU football in Texas DE Ryan Williams

Three-star prospect the Buffs’ fourth commitment in past two weeks

The state of the 2020 college football season might still be in limbo, but the Colorado Buffaloes already have the bulk of their 2021 recruiting class in place.

On Friday afternoon, the Buffs received a verbal commitment from Ryan Williams, a defensive lineman rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports.com. Williams is the fourth recruit to pledge his collegiate career to the Buffs since the beginning of last week, including the second three-star defensive lineman, following a commitment from Tyas Martin out of Arkansas last week.

Williams’ addition also is the ninth commitment the Buffs have received for the 2021 class, with nine senior scholarships available from the 2020 senior class. That total includes Jash Allen, who left the CU program earlier this month, though additional attrition likely will open the door to a slightly larger 2021 class for the Buffs.

A 6-foot-5, 240-pound defensive end out of Pearland, Texas, Williams’ only other scholarship offer, according to 247Sports, was from Texas Southern.

Last week, CU also received verbal commitments from Tyrin Taylor, a cornerback out of North Carolina, and safety Trustin Oliver, who originally committed to the Buffs for the  2019 class out of Legend High School in Parker before detouring to Iowa Western Community College.
