Less than a week ago, Zephaniah Maea received a scholarship offer to play football at Colorado.

On Monday, he joined the herd.

Maea, a 6-foot-1, 230-pound linebacker announced Monday afternoon that he has committed to CU for the 2021 class. A three-star recruit from Liberty High School in Henderson, Nev., he picked CU over Boise State and San Diego State.

Maea has not been able to visit the campus, but did take a recent virtual tour.

In addition to CU, Maea has nine other scholarship offers, according to 247Sports.com, including from Utah and Washington State. He is rated the No. 6 overall prospect in Nevada by 247Sports.

Maea is the third member of CU’s commitment list for 2021. He joins defensive end Allan Baugh from St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) High School and receiver Chase Penry from Cherry Creek High School.
