Once again, the Pac-12 Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week did his damage at the expense of the Colorado Buffaloes.
On Monday, the final weekly honor of the 2019-20 season went to Utah sophomore Both Gach, who scored a career-best 28 points in the Utes’ overtime win against the Buffs on Saturday. It is the third consecutive week the Pac-12’s weekly honorees have posted their big numbers against CU.
Gach went 9-for-15 against the Buffs but it was his final, unofficial attempt from the field that made the difference, as CU point guard McKinley Wright IV was called for a questionable foul on Gach’s desperation 3-point attempt just before the buzzer. With 0.6 seconds remaining, Gach knocked down all three free throws, turning a one-point Buffs lead into a two-point victory for Utah.
Gach finished 8-for-9 at the free throw line and also recorded five rebounds and four assists.
Washington’s Jaden McDaniels was named the Freshman of the Week after leading the Huskies to an impressive road sweep in Arizona. McDaniels recorded 16 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots in a win at Arizona State before collecting 20 points, six rebounds, and three blocks at Arizona.
