That will do it for this week everybody! Great comments and questions once again. Have a great week and we'll do this again next Monday! We'll see, but he's spent three years working with his father - who is a VERY good TE coach in the NFL - and Taylor was starting to make his mark as a good coach. It could turn out that they got Taylor before he became a hotter name.In some past sessions other people have logged in as DenverBuff but they weren't me. I really like the two new coaches KD hired. Do you think young Embree is hired a year or two too soon and could have used more experience? Seems like a friendship hire more than an earned position to an outsider.Yes, but he also likes to coach. I could see him being a HC againCoach Mac makes oodles of dough being fired, he's got a good grind going.I think it speaks to the fact that CU didn't see eye-to-eye with Tucker on how much staff he felt he "needed" to get the job done. You said CU fired three people during the coaching transition? That's kinda weird. You have a great class.Your coach leaves. Before new coach comes in, you can three of recruiting staff?I think you should write an article about why they did that ol' scribe.Three of the recruiting assistantsWhich three women form the recruiting department got fired?I think he would openly root FOR Michigan State. I bet he'd stay away, though. They'd probably be in spring ball.Given how often Mel Tucker showed up at BB games to support the Buffs, do you think he'd show up wearing green if CU and MSU met in the Big Dance and openly root against Tad Boyle and the boys?If this team stays intact - meaning Bey, Wright, etc., return - this team could be really special next yearI think the BB team is a typical Tad team that figures it out in the end. I’m more excited about next years team if all the guys come back. Brian what’s your impression of the juniors returning?Yeah, I think he will be. He's a good coach. Just needs to get in the right situation. Will MacIntyre ever be a head coach again...the fired CU HC curseWe'll see. I don't agree that CSU has a "much better coach." I think that's a strange hire for CSU. They're in transition, just like CU. Fresno should be a win, A&M likely a loss. I don't think they'll be as bad as 3-9, but getting to 6 will be a tough taskWhen you look at the Buffs schedule this year, we could really be in for some lean times.CSU, has a much better coach and is at home. It won't be a cake walk this year.Texas A&M is a loss.Fresno State is always a hard out.Oregon lossArizona on the road, probably a lossUCLA here, maybe a winASU here, maybe a winUSC on the road, never happens.WSU here, maybe a winStanford on the road 50/50At Washington, lossUtah here, loss.Looks a lot like 3-9 and dang happy for that. Not trying to be voice of doom, but looks like reality to me.I don't think you're going out on a limb there. It's huge for any team to win 2 games in the NCAA Tourney. In the women's NIT, the Buffs could be facing teams like UNC or South Dakota or other Power 5 teams that were bottom half of their conference. The way things are going, I think the women will win more games in the NIT the the men will in the NCAAIt's hard to say because I don't know what Dorrell has in mind there, but the fact that he didn't come from another school probably bodes well for a lot of support staff. CU did fired three of the women in its recruiting department during the coaching transition. What other support staff do you see staying or not being retained for football (DFO, GA's, Recruiting, Player Personnel and Development )?I agree on MacIntyre. I think if an SEC team did come calling, he would have left. As for Tucker, I said it from the day he was hired I didn't see him being here long because of his resume. He had zero ties to CU or Colorado or even the West. He's grown up around the Big Ten and SEC, which, let's face it, have had better football than the Pac-12. And, even if you want to argue that point, that's fine, but both conferences play more of the style Tucker likes. He always seemed like a guy who would leave if an SEC or Big Ten job came open. I truly don't think he fully respects Pac-12 football and that was part of my thinking, too.You pretty much called it all along saying you didn’t see Tucker sticking around for long, although I don’t think even you saw him leaving after one year. Anything specific give you the impression he was a short-timer? He appeared to be passionate about CU! MacIntyre conversely never gave me the impression he loved CU...and I always thought he would have left the instant an SEC team came calling.Possibly, but Michigan State did win a few Big Ten titles under Dantonio, so they aren't that far off most yearsWhen I look at the Big Ten East, its hard to see ex-HCMT beating out OSU, Michigan and PState. I think there is a strong possibility he is there for six years and never wins his division, let alone his conference.not sure, but you could reach out to himHas anyone told Tyler Bey he will be lucky to play overseas if he goes pro?Arlington Hambright could be a candidate to impress scouts, along with Tim Lynott. Delrick Abrams could have an impressive showing, too. Mikial Onu has the football IQ to impress, but will he impress at pro day? We'll see.which non-invitees to the Combine will impress the scouts the most at CU's upcoming pro day?I have no idea where they get them. Sounds like they have one they've identified, but it takes some time to trainOur new Buffalo seems to be suffering from a little anxiety, may not be ready by fall.Any thoughts on a backup recruit? Where do the get the Buffalo candidates? Colorado? No, because all of them were already signed. it's different than a coach bailing before signing day. Once signed, I think most of the guys took a wait-and-see approachWere you surprised at how many of the new kids stuck to their commitment to the Buffs after Tucker left rather than bail?Maybe. I think there are different ways to succeed. I still think Frost will wind up doing well at NebraskaIf we look at the debacle in Lincoln, we see what happens when a "Bro Coach" not a pro coach hires coordinators where he feels he can fill in the gaps. Not good. Modern College Football HC needs each coordinator to completely carry their own water.Frost is doubling down on hiring a coaching bro' from Oregon instead of using his vast resources to hire a solid OC. Although, it could be a solid OC doesn't want to work for him. They might not see it as a winnable situation. There are quite a few that are doing well. Tyler Lytle has made great strides, Nate Landman, Kary Kutsch, Mark Perry, etc.Any other players that are really doing great in the weight room this off seasonI don't know if he did or not, but he's certainly done it in the pastDid KD call plays at UCLA?Agreed, but I don't think the OL coach needs to have OC experience.I hate to agree with cranky Karnac, but the most important hire is a veteran OL coach.Good thing is, the HC has OC experience, so that helps.CU needs a veteran OL coach with OC experience, especially if Chev will be OC. The dude made Lindgren's crappy offense worse than Lindgren did...It seems like it. He's turning some heads in there. Great start for him!The new Qb recruit is a monster in the weight room?I would think so, but I also don't think we know for sure if he will be lone OC. it's quite possible that a QB coach or OL coach comes in as co-OCWill Chev do better as a stand-alone OC rather than a co-OC like he was with Lindgren a few years ago?I would assume so. There's only 3 spots left to fill - that we know of at this point. Will KD's staff be filled by the end of the weekOK, then!I'm bald, so first of all, I am part of the bald community. You wouldn't know Howell. But us bald guys, we know. We know.I'm sure some people are different and there was hope he wouldn't need it, but that gamble didn't pay off.Pulled core muscle almost always needs surgery and it really, really hurts. Got one from Cross Fit and I had to give up the game, I kept pushing everything off to the right.I haven't heard yet.Have you heard if the new DB Coach will handle both Corners and Safeties...or will KD split those responsibilities?I don't know. Depends on how he wants to handle duties for the assistants. If Martin is going to coach the entire secondary and Summers the ILBs, that opens up a spot for a ST coordinator. If he wants to split up the secondary, special teams will have to be done by another assistant. How do you think KD will handle Special Teams? Ask one of the Position Coaches to handle like Els did last year, dedicated ST Coach, by committee? They're going to the NCAA Tournament regardlessTad is the worst in game coach in the Pac-12. It's a shame this team in in a tailspin and will be lucky to get an NIT bid after the Buffs lose to Utah.I don't know if I'll ask him, but how do you know if he doesn't have gray hair? He's bald! Are you really going to ask Karl how he keeps so fit, or were you jerking my chain? It is a little freaky; no paunch, no gray hairs, no wrinkles, etc.Hmm, good question. I haven't thought of that one, but off the top of my head, I'd guess Nate Landman gets an invite and maybe Mustafa Johnson. if he has a big year, I could see KD Nixon maybe getting an invite.Good to see Buffs represented at NFL combine, which Buffs do you see invited to NFL combine next year? From what I understand, it was believed he needed rest to heal the injury, but that simply wasn't the case. In hindsight, would have been better for him to get surgery right after the Utah game.Shenault hasn't played since the disastrous loss in Salt Lake City last year, but now he needs surgery for the core muscle issue? How is it that hasn't healed up by now given he hasn't played a game in 3 months?I have actually, up at Eldora. It's not the greatest spectator sport, but it's cool to do something differentHave you ever gone to a College ski race where the Buffs were racing?I'll put that on the list of questions for next time I talk to him.Have you asked Karl how he stays so fit? He's 56 and he looks the same he did in 1992. I hope he didn't build his house here just for the Vegan food. Technically, I think you are subject to NCAA sanctions if your football coach is a Vegan. XC and track, not a problem.I honestly didn't watch the combine, so I don't know. But, I know that Montez has a very strong arm and it's not often you see an arm like his.Is Montez boast about strongest arm of the Combine QBs accurate in your opinion?I don't know their schedule, but I think they go early afternoon. I think there are videos posted on social media every now and then. but, Pat Rooney will be covering practice for us at Buffzone and you can read up on them here!Brian, very disappointing last couple weeks for the b-ball team. I'm very interested to keep tabs on them this week and what's coming out of their camp. Do you know what their practice schedule is and if any post-practice videos of Tad will be made available anywhere?Wrote an article on Pyne when he was transferred in, so it was worth writing it as he went out. As for the Chev ... I'm pretty sure I mentioned him as being retained. Why did you do an article on Pyne? Wasn't even worth mentioning! Also, seems to me Plati had to rush out a release last Monday after you didn't mention Chev as one of the coaches being retained.
