The University of Colorado athletic department tallied 33 total student-athletes across five fall sports named to the inaugural Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll, the conference announced Thursday afternoon.
The Pac-12 Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs) recommended to the Pac-12 Council to change the all-academic selection process to eliminate all-academic teams and honor anyone that has a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or greater and has served a year in residence at their institution. The Fall Academic Honor Roll featured 527 total student-athletes across six different sports; men and women’s cross country, football, men and women’s soccer, and volleyball.
Football led the Buffaloes with nine named to the honor; Lucas Cooper (Strategic Communication), Joshua Goldin (Finance), Jake Groth (Management), Alex Kinney (Organizational Leadership), Timothy Lynott (Organizational Leadership), Nico Magri (Finance/Management), Heston Paige (History), Blake Stenstrom (Mechanical Engineering) and Jonathan Van Diest (Management).
The 2019 Pac-12 Champions men’s cross country team tied for third with five total individuals named to the honor while the women had eight, tied for fifth in the conference. They are; Alec Hornecker (Finance), Joe Klecker (Biochemistry), Justice Ramos (Architecture), Paxton Smith (Management/Marketing), Josh Torres (Integrative Physiology), Madie Boreman (Psychology/Women and Gender Studies), Olivia Brooks (Accounting), Liz Constien (Cinema Studies/Spanish), Annie Hill (Integrative Physiology), Sage Hurta (Chemical and Biological Engineering), Karina Mann (Ecology and Evolutionary Biology/Environmental Studies), Bailey Nock (Ecology and Evolutionary Biology/Environmental Studies) and Tabor Scholl (Communication).
Women’s soccer finished the fall season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament and have five individuals named to the honor; Hannah Cardenas (Integrative Physiology/Psychology), Libby Geraghty (Integrative Physiology), Chaynee Kingsbury (Journalism), Jalen Tompkins (Psychology) and Sofia Weiner (Management).
The volleyball team finished fourth in the Pac-12 with six total student-athletes named to the honor roll; Brynna DeLuzio (Marketing), Emily DeMure (Sociology), Taylor deProsse (Integrative Physiology), Lillie Klemmer (Sociology), Danielle Price (Ethnic Studies/Sociology) and Rachel Whipple (Integrative Physiology).
