The Pac-12 Conference’s move to a 20-game men’s basketball schedule next season means one extra league home date and one extra road game for the Colorado Buffaloes.
On Wednesday, the Buffs learned who those foes will be. The league announced a slate of early-season conference games that will round out the Pac-12’s new-look schedule, with the Buffs visiting Arizona on Dec. 2, 2020 before hosting Washington State three days later on Dec. 5.
Previously, the Buffs had been scheduled to play the Arizona schools and Washington schools just once apiece. In the reverse of this year’s schedule, CU originally was not slated to make the Arizona trip while playing the two Washington schools only on the road. Adding the road date at Arizona and the home date against WSU means there will be only two league foes — Washington on the road and Arizona State at home — the Buffs will see only once.
Both games will be the earliest conference matchups for the Buffs since a Dec. 13, 1986 date at Kansas.
Wednesday’s announcement confirms two more early-season dates on a November-December ledger for next season that quickly is filling up for the Buffs. Last week, it was announced CU will compete in the 2020 Fort Myers Tip-Off, with two games on Nov. 23-25 against either South Florida, Butler, or Wisconsin.
CU also hosts Colorado State and Kansas at the CU Events Center and plays TCU in Las Vegas in the first annual Pac-12 Conference Coast to Coast Challenge.
