The Colorado lacrosse team announced its 2020 season schedule on Monday, highlighted by six opponents who were ranked in the final IWLCA poll in the spring of 2019.
The Buffaloes themselves finished ranked 19th in that poll.
The season will begin at Florida, which was ranked 13th at the end of the season for the third straight year, on Feb. 8. This is the second time in three years the Buffs will take on the Gators to open the season on the road. In 2019, CU hosted Florida.
The Gators are the first of six non-conference opponents the Buffs will face during the season. After the season opener, the Buffaloes will return home to host Harvard Feb. 21. It will be a quick turnaround for their third game of the season as Colorado will head to Ann Arbor, Mich. for a contest Feb. 23 against No. 11 Michigan.
The conference slate will begin March 6 with Oregon coming to Boulder. Just two days later, CU will host its fourth non-conference opponent, Coastal Carolina.
The Pac-12 Conference Tournament will take place April 23-26 in Palo Alto, Calif., with Stanford serving as the host. The NCAA Tournament field will be announced early in May. The first and second rounds will take place May 8 and 10, respectively, while the quarterfinals are slated for May 16-17. The semifinals are scheduled for May 22 and the finals are May 24.
Before the season starts, the Buffs will have a chance to see how they stack up against the nation’s best Jan. 26 when they scrimmage No. 4 Northwestern in Boulder. NU has been one of the nation’s elite programs and will likely be ranked highly this season.
Per the Colorado press release, all rankings listed are based off the final 2019 IWLCA poll.
