That'll do it for this week everybody. Great comments and questions as always. Enjoy the bye week!Ha! I agree, although I didn't ask how it's pronounced. Luckily I won't be having to write that name in the future!Since you covered the Women's game yesterday, you are familiar with the names of the players on NJIT. Unfortunate last name for one of them. 😉 I hope it is pronounced differently than it appears.Great get for the Buffs!Buffs land 6’3 OLB Toren Pittman. #GoBuffsQuote TweetI think both, but it's taken him some time to adjust to this new role. I think both coaching staffs have done a good job in utilizing his skills.last year Dev Taylor was more impactful early in the year. Now he is doing much better under the new system. Which system used his talents better, last year or this?Toren Pittman, a S/OLB from Texas. He could potentially play the Star role for CU. He's a 3-star with offers from Arkansas, Baylor and a few othersenlighten us....who's Toren?Possibly next year, or 2021. Hopefully next yearhow far off in the future might a scoreboard and sound system from this century be?Well, Stanford's QB was projected as a potential first-round pick before the year, so he's pretty good. The young corners at CU have some talent.Trujillo is a freshman corner who did not do very well initially. I believe that Luckett was a WR until being convinced to try corner. Have both of these guys improved dramatically, or was Stanford's passing game just not good? If the former, it seems like they both have a good future at corner.it's my understanding that was heavily a Mac decision. I agree Stanley is very talented, but so is KD. Arias, from what I hear, hasn't been nearly as consistent in practice this season as he was in fall camp. So, not sure where his confidence level is right now. I agree, he can be a star in the future, thoughIn an earlier response, you mentioned “Mac’s loyalty to the senior WR group”. Do you think that was all Mac...or do you also see that being heavily influenced by Chev as well? Chev seems very loyal to certain players. In my opinion, KD is a great example of that. I think Stan,EY is just as talented with a higher ceiling, yet KD has seemingly received more playing time. And, why haven’t we seen more of Arias this season? My prediction is that he will make a major impact next season!there you go! First one in for the dayToren just committed. There's a lot more on Montez's plate than it might appear. They ask a lot of him. I think he's done a solid job considering this is his third offense. That's tough on any QBThanks for doing these chats. Although Montez is a very capable physical QB, he is not always the most cerebral QB. Do you think this limits the coaches approach at all? From watching other teams play on Saturdays I see a lot more complicated offenses out there. Our offense seems simplified in some ways to other offensive strategies. Is it the coaches or the QB?Good point! I was on the hoops beat at that time and that team with Dinwiddie was REALLY good. This team is off to a good startNo one commenting on the first CU Top 25 ranking since Dinwiddie got hurt?? They looked pretty good in Shanghai..It has been crazy, for sure. the games have been entertaining, if nothing else!Hey Brian - Can you recall every seeing so many close home games by one team in one season? By my count, point differential at Folsom in each of the five games this year - 3,7,5,4, and 3. Pretty crazy if you ask me and maybe that's why attendance has been relatively strong?Sounds like he had some family stuff going on. Maybe he didn't feel the support from Bama. I haven't talked to him, so it's unfair to speculate. Why did Alfano leave Alabama like he did? That doesn't happen for no reason. Saban didn't have kind words about it.thanks! I didn't watch much of the men's game. I went to a undefeated showdown between local high school football teams instead! But, I think like any team, the Buffs will work out some of those kinks early. You hope the turnovers aren't an issue. Bey, I agree, probably shouldn't take so many 3s, but I also think if he can show he can hit the 3, that makes him a better pro prospect.Brian, great rewind and also loved the photos! Did you see the men's BB game? A good win, but I'm concerned about the turnovers. And what's with Bey taking 4 3-pointers? I seem to recall Tad benching Bey after some ill advised 3 pointers.it's way too early to know that, honestly. Those decisions are often made in December/January after players have end-of-season meetings with coaches. Or they're made after spring when guys don't see playing time. There were several who left this past offseason that I would not have predicted last November. That said, there are always 5-6 guys who decide to move onWithout sharing any names, approximately how many players with remaining eligibility do you expect to leave early after this year? I assume this will become much clearer after Spring practices when guys see the writing on the wall and have conversations about future prospects with the coaching staff. Not sure where he got that either, but I agree, that would be a bummeri.e., "Bubbles"...Mark Johnson said on the post game it "looks like" the CU-UW game will be an evening kickoff. don't know what source or hunch he was referring to....that would be a bummer.MontezWho gets drafted first in 2020, Kinney or Montez?Recruits are seeing Tucker's vision, that's part of it. Two, homecoming brings in a bigger crowd usually. And, the Buffs typically play well at home,so it generated some excitement.Pretty crazy to see almost 50k people in the stands, a bunch of top notch recruits on the field, and the fans going crazy over a 4-6 team beating another 4-6 team. To what do you attribute that? That wouldn't have happened at any time since the 90's.Mike had a lot of success at CU and at Cincinnati. His most recent football hire is doing a phenomenal job at Cincy. His football hires at CU didn't work out, but 1) Hawkins was viewed as a big hire for CU - it just didn't work; 2) Embree wasn't all his choice, there was pressure to hire an alum; and 3) we'll never know how MacIntyre would have been different had Bohn stayed. It's a big deal when the coach and AD are in harmony. MacIntyre never had the AD that hired him - yet still got the program on better ground, so I don't think you can call that a bad hire for Bohn.what in the hell does USC see in Mike Bohn? Hopefully he hires the next football coach there so we can start beating those guys.I think a combo of his ankle injury and just not being ready. If he had a year like last year, I think he could have goneMustafa's name was mentioned as a 1st round pick earlier this year. You said that you think he stays. I think it's a good idea for him to stay another year. Do you think his ankle injury and falling out of the spotlight from lack of playing time is responsible, or is he just not ready? The defense will be excellent next year if he stays.Close to signing day next month or maybe into JanuaryWhen do you think the buffs would announce transfer prospects for next year?I think it's possible because that position looks thin at this pointDo the Buffs also look at a Grad Transfer safety?I think Montez, Taylor and Abrams get drafted, and I think Hambright and Lynott both have a shot. They'll all get in camps for sure. Tony Brown might have played his way into the draft, as well, and Bisharat could be a guy who gets in a camp. Tchangam might be a shot because of his physical tools. And, Onu could be a guy who gets a shot. There was an earlier NFL question about Juniors. What about the Seniors: Arlington Hambright, Tim Lynott, Steven Montez, Davion Taylor, Delrick Abrams. Who do you see getting drafted? I'm sure they all have NFL aspirations. Not that I'm aware of. I mean, I always suspect there's some bending of rules for all teams, but nothing egregiousDo you think there is any foul play with this new coaching staff and recruiting? That seems to be the common stereotype with SEC teams.Overall, yes, I think it's been solid. There are a lot of times when the play call is very good, but execution is not there. That pass to KD near the goal line the other day ... I would have ran the ball there, but it was a great play call because KD was wide open. The ball just happened to be tipped a bit and mess up the play. So many plays have been like that.Do you believe the play calling has been good overall this year? At times I question our play calls especially late in games, in the redzone, and on third and short.Well, I think Mel and his staff would have done it differently than MacIntyre did. It still blows my mind that MacIntyre didn't play Viska much in 2017. It was clear back then that he was different. The loyalty to that senior WR group was such a bad call on Mac's part.If they could do it over again, do you think coaches will handle how they used Shenault differently these three seasons?I think Oregon is the more complete team, but that Utah defense is REALLY good. I'd go with Oregon, thoughwho wins Oregon vs Utah in Pac 12 championship game?He has done a good job, I agree. He wanted so bad to be a college RB, so I don't blame him for not switching earlier. But, he's definitely making a solid impact this year.Bisharat is settling in nicely at TE, doing a lot of the dirty work out there. Shame its’s is last year, and they didn’t convert him to TE earlier in his career. They'll practice three times this week and then take the weekend off before getting back at it on MondayWhat's the football teams schedule this week with the byeYes, I was. I wouldn't have concern because of that game. First games are always ugly. NJIT is not good, but they were playing their third game. This is not a CU team that's going to blow out many teams, though.Brian, Where you at the Women’s game yesterday? How concerned should we be with only a 20 point win aginst NJIT?That's the big question! Could be Lytle, Stenstrom, Lewis or ...??Next year, running backs and ends look great. O and D Lines look pretty good as does linebackers. Def backs looking a lot better than we thought. Now is there a QB to run this race car?I think Mel is like a lot of coaches that like to play it safe. There are times he's trusted his defense, when I thought he should have put the ball in the hands of his offense. It'll be interesting to see if that evolves as he gets along in his coaching. Not sure which play you're talking about the other day that you wanted him to challenge. Why do you think it is that Mel really hasn't been aggressive this season before the Stanford game? AF could've gone for 2. Passed on multiple attempts to go for it on 4th down. Doesn't challenge question play calls (like dropped pass in Stanford game that resulted in 1st down).if they get all the commits they want, I'm not sure they have many spots open. Maybe one or two.Do we have enough open spots for graduate transfers to come here? They certainly haven't quit. Good to see them come out strong last weekhaven't seen other posts but I was so pleased that after losing 5 straight they still played so well. Some guys should have quit on the season, and it doesn't look that way. Great Job Mel!!!We'll see. Talent is drawn to talent and he's got a lot of talent. It's the type of move that can draw others to CU. As for next year, not sure yet if he can play. they're still waiting to find out. What's the story behind the story of this young man from Alabama who just fell out of the sky to us? Do you think his move makes much of a thud when it comes to other recruits? can he play next year?I'm not sure the timeline on that. The NCAA has a tendency to drag those things outWhen will we know if Alfano can play in 2020 or has to sit a year?Way too early to tell. So much can change with not only CU's roster, but the roster of others between now and next August. Right now, I project a better defense for CU and if they find solid QB, they can be OK on offense.Do you think the buffs will have a better or worse record next year? I think worse.3-2 Colorado. Evan Price hits another game winner as time expiresScore prediction for the Washington game?
