CU basketball rolls in China exhibition matchup

Five players score in double figures in final preseason tuneup

The final preseason tune-up is complete for the Colorado men’s basketball team.

The Buffaloes routed Tshingua University 109-42 in an exhibition contest Wednesday in Suzhou, China. The Buffs complete the road trip Friday night in the Pac-12 Conference’s annual game in China against Arizona State in Shanghai (8:30 p.m. MT, ESPN2).

The Buffs originally were slated to play the exhibition contest against Peking University, with ASU taking on Tshingua in a doubleheader, but China’s Federation of University Sports, which co-hosts the annual trip alongside the Pac-12, switched the opponents earlier in the day.

CU scored the game’s first six points, jumped to a 12-1 lead, and never looked back. The game was played under FIBA international rules, and the Buffs put together a 23-0 run over the end of the first quarter and into the second quarter.

The Buffs shot an even 50 percent from the field (42-for-84) and went 9-for-29 on 3-pointers (.310).

Five players scored in double figures for the Buffs, led by 12 apiece from Dallas Walton, Maddox Daniels, and Tyler Bey. Bey also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
