Colorado spotlight on …

Brady Russell

Position: Tight end

Height: 6-3

Weight: 255

Year: Sophomore

Numbers: Russell has 14 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown. It’s already the most catches in a season by a CU tight end since Sean Irwin had 15 in 2015. Three times this season, Russell has had at least three catches.

Potential impact vs. USC: Several tight ends have enjoyed good games against the Trojans this year, including Stanford’s Colby Parkinson, Utah’s Cole Fotheringham, Notre Dame’s Cole Kmet and the Washington duo of Hunter Bryant and Cade Otton. Russell may not lead the Buffs in receiving vs. USC, but he could make some big plays. He’s also a key to the run game, as he’s on the field for about 75 percent of the offensive snaps.

Russell said: “I love catching the ball better (than blocking), but if I have to go run a route and not catch the ball or block, I’d rather block. I love getting my face in there and hitting somebody and getting after it.”
