That will do it for this week everybody. Thanks for the comments and questions. we'll do this again next week!Yes. he said they wanted to get something going offensively. A rare moment when I just don't agree with him there.Did you ask Tuck about keeping Montez in?But, more than anything the next guy has no experience. Perfect time to give him some.Yes. Very strange to keep Montez in. He’s 10x better than your next guy, was having an off night and they were teeing off on the pass. Most of the 4th quarter. They scored two plays into the fourth and then put second team in.When did Oregon put in their second team Seemed like they kept the starters longer than they shouldI think it would help if the backups had some experience, too.I see now what you mean about a juco qb I think Tuck wants more mobile qbs and you can’t have an offensive philosophy that implodes when the starter goes downI think they just wanted some more points on the board. Bummer that he missed it, but yes, at least it was meaningless! And what was the decision to kick a FG late in the game. Stefanou missed it but at least it was meaningless and he got it out of his system.I could see Mustafa and KD leaving, but Mustafa's injury doesn't help. KD, in my opinion, would be making a mistake, but I could see him having NFL eyes and going.Do you see anyone other than Viska leaving early for the NFL? There was talk of Mustafa, Landman and KD all leaving early prior to the start of the season. And of those three, even after coming back next year, only Mustafa and Landman are likely to be drafted. While KD is a good college player, it just doesn't seem like he has the talent to play at the next level, especially on the outside. Not sure, but it's possible he's back this weekhow long will Mustafa be out?Depends on attrition, but the only 3 scheduled to graduate are Abrams, Onu and Lucas Cooper.Even though we are struggling in the defensive backfield, there are a lot of players getting experience. How many db's will be back nex yearThe cheesecake i'd do. I'd take a Coke over the martiniI guess it could make them disgruntled with you up in first class sipping martinis and eating cheesecakeI thought they played starters too long, especially Montez. Made no sense to me to keep him in there, especially when the backups have zero experience. Many were worried about Montez still in the game late. I was worried about Landman. That seemed odd to me..Not that I'm aware of. Only time I ever flew on the team plane was when I was covering basketball and they played in Orlando for the NCAA Tournament. because it was such a quick turnaround, I was able to get a seat with them. But, no, I don't think it's common practice. It's not beneficial to do it, actually. The team leaves immediately after the game and flies home, but I'm still working for several hours after that. So, I would rather not fly with them anyway. But they should let you pay a reduced fee. Don’t other teams do that?Because I'm not a member of the team or an employee of the university. Why don’t you fly with the team?I wasn't on the flight, so I don't know. But, he handled the postgame presser well and was fine after the game. He was fine today. How were Mel Tucker's spirits on flight back?Hard to argue that. The Buffs are giving up a LOT in the pass game, so it makes sense for teams to attack there.I watched UW vs AZ. It was a totally different Arizona strategy there. They were running way more against UW and got 150+ in the loss. It's pretty clear that the scouting report on the Buffs is to attack with the pass. Obviously that's what WSU will do regardless, but the Buffs need to sell out on pass defense until they get that fixed. Let someone beat us with the run instead.that would be wild to see Frost get fired from nebraskaFiring Frost will be like during Harbaugh. Apocalyptic.I think it's a tough spot because I'm not sure these guys are good enough yet to go man-to-man, but they're blowing assignments in zone. If they would follow assignments, I think zone might be the way to go.with the secondary personnel we have, does it make it easier to play man-to-man or zone? Seems like we have missed assignments leaving opponent wrs wide open.Buffs might have to get a little creative defensively this week. it doesn't set up as a good week for CU defensively.WSU argues for a 3-2-7 defense the whole game with safeties everywhere in the middleI think he's falling down the first round a bit, but I still think he's a first-round pick and in his last year with CU.With all the injuries Viska has had the the last couple of years, has his stock in the NFL declined and is there a chance he might return next yearif he's still there in four years, that means he's figured it out and they aren't playing like this.If anybody watches Nebraska 1 1/2 years in to the Frost era, I think we can pencil in a sweep in four years if he is still somehow the coach there. That team is really poor at fundamentals.Poor blocking, terrible tackling, awful web play. And he doesn’t seem to get itHe keeps touting a conditioning program that gets out slugged every time they go out.Depends on what you mean as the long haul, but for the next few years, yes. Larry Scott is under contract through 2022.Do you think Rick George is around for the long haul? He's been rumored as the next Pac-12 commissioner.they have to be able to get some stops in the middle of the defense and not let the Cougars kill them in the middle of the field. WSU could have a huge day if the Buffs don't shore that up.It seems to me that if CU can weather the passing assault that they have a shot at the victory in Pullman. What adjustments do you see them making in order to shore up the defense.Ha! Those are the rankings THIS week 🙂 I do think CU can still get to a bowl. I think the next two are huge - at Wazzu, home vs. USC. Buffs have to go 1-1 there. if they do, I like their chances of getting UCLA and StanfordWe play 3 teams in your bottom 5 PAC12 rankings and ahead of WSU. So you like our odds this weekend and making a bowl game??? :)Wayyyyyy to early to answer that question. First off, I don't know what this year's record will be. Second, I don't know what the full makeup of the 2020 team will be. Third, who knows what the Pac-12 looks like next year?Do you think our record next year will be worse than this year?that was too short to be Fulsom!Fulsom has a new handle!!Yeah, I know. I should reconsider!Wait, you’re going with a specialist’s opinion who has seen Viska versus my tv-based opinion as a complete layman? Weak! :)They haven't played yet. They're slotted where they should be going into the year. Coaches voted on that and they see a 12th place team that lost its two best players, in theory. I think the overall makeup of the team is better this year. if they're healthy, I'd be surprised if they're not better.Brian, A switch to WBB; the Buffs are picked 12th this year, what gives? You said they would be better this yearPerry has been practicing a lot at star, which is why he slid into Blackmon's spot at nickel (basically the same type of position). I think Onu is fine. He looked normal to me the other day.Is Mikail Onu at full speed? Has Mark Perry been taking any snaps at the the star position.I think ideally for Tucker, it looks more like Stanford/Georgia.So, in three years do we look (scheme wise like Wisconsin and Stanford and Georgia) or do we look like a Ohio State and Oklahoma?I’d it’s the former we can be solid, if it’s the latter I think we are perpetual middle of the pack. You can’t out Oregon, Oregon. We just won’t have the athletes to match up on speed schemes.Same fate for HuskersI think they're working on that. Marvin Ham is really talented and he might be able to help. Landman and Akil Jones are fine with others doing well around them. I like Van Diest in a lot of situations, too, but he doesn't have that side-to-side speed. With our lack of speed at lb, do we have anyone that will help us out next yearMay not be totally the same injury you had. I'd say if the specialist thinks he's fine to play, go with that.I’ve had Viska’s injury. He might as well sit for the rest of the year. It’s the worst. Took me three years to recover without surgery. He should get surgery.I thought Trujillo played well last week. Yes, he's a smaller guy, so you worry about him, but he looks good. Roddick I think is up and down. On that drive that got CU to the Oregon 1 in the second quarter, the Buffs ran behind Roddick 4 times in a row and he opened up holes. He did a good job there. How are Casey Roddick and K.J. Trujillo faring in their new roles as a starters? I am concerned that K.J. is a little underweight too handle his tackling assignments w/o joining Chris Miller on the injured list. No, but it's not the CBs that really concern me. Abrams and Trujillo actually played pretty well against Oregon. it's the middle of the defense that is most vulnerable.I like the Buffs chances at WSUIf they commit to the runThey may have to think about six or seven down lineman. We can’t win a shootout with our banged up cb’s.Both were out there quite a bit, but KD didn't have any official targets. He was thrown to twice, and both resulted in penalties that wiped out the plays. Viska is going to be limited a bit all year, I think. Was KD playing much at WR? I didn't get a chance to see if he was lined up. He was such a nonfactor that it seemed like he wasn't there. Also, was Viska on a "pitch count" as mentioned during the broadcast?I agree. Huard does a good job. My only criticism is he mixes up names every once in a while.I think Huard is great, watch the Nebraska game he is flat out signing Buffs and Tucker’s praises for comeback and gritWhat was he going to say that was good about buffs in Oregon? Shiny helmets? It's a different offense than in 2016. In 2016, with Sefo being banged up a bit, the best offense was running him and Lindsay all the time. This year, the Buffs are better with Montez delivering the ball to the receivers and trying to create plays with his feet. Why don't they run Montez like they did Sefo in 2016. Are they trying to protect him due to not being confident in the back-upsThis year, probably not. I think CU's trying to what it can to keep guys back and limit big plays. They don't have the talent to do both - attack and limit big plays. Unfortunately right now, they aren't doing either consistently. We all knew that the defense would struggle this year. We also knew if we had injuries in the secondary we were in real trouble. But for me I feel like the bigger concern is the complete lack of a pass rush. Is there any hope that it can improve?Yeah, I think a lot of times that's the preferred policy. But, KD has shown some ability to break one, and in a game like last week, that could be a momentum change. Could also kill momentum, for sure.On receiving KOs, when the kick is near the goal line or slightly in, shouldn't we always take the 25 yard line? Sure you could break one but you could also fumble too?
