That will do it for this week. Have a great week everybody! Thanks! They'll be OK. The real question is what they're like in 2-3 weeks if they're on a three or four-game slide.thanks Brian, have a good week. how do you assess the team's emotional state? They're certainly top 15. I don't think they are overrated at No. 9 right now. I don't say this as a fan, but as a voter and an objective observer. They are very balanced and probably finish the regular season at 10-2, at worst, if not 11-1. No, I don't think USC upsets them this week. That's a game the Irish should win going away.I know you like the Domers. They are certainly better (top 30 but not top 15), but still overrated. Think USC upsets them this week?it's been a rotation of Van Diest and Akil Jones. I think if the Buffs had someone who was really good at covering and was better than Landman, that guy would be playing.Who plays behind Landman with the pass happy conference we must be able to try someone else who can coverI don't know if they were rusty. I think you're seeing a team that's got some young guys, some inexperience, and I think you're seeing what's typical out of average football teams.it seems the buffs were both rusty and overamped in the first half, i.e., the assignments, personal fouls, drops. any notion of why that might be the case?Maybe? UCLA and Stanford seem to have a hard time scoring. Will this team give up less than 30 points in a game this year?it's not too harsh. But, what you're seeing is guys who haven't played a whole lot still trying to get used to the position. That's why Onu is so crucial to this team.without being shrill about young men, it seems that the secondary and even LBs miss coverage assignments some of which are pretty routine, e.g., in 2-deep each safety stays deeper than the deepest receiver yet our safeties continue to bite on underneath routes which leave a receiver yards behind our D. that seems liike an easy fix but ... is that too harsh?Ultimately, they're about where most thought they'd be. I thought they'd be 4-1, maybe 5-0 with a few breaks, and really, they could be 5-0. But, this is a fairly inexperienced team with a new coaching staff and the ups and downs are to be expected. Is this team really performing any better or worse than you thought they would be? Maybe it’s just me but 3-2 was about where I had them going into the season and maybe they could finish 6-6 but they needed to stay healthy at DL and CB/S.True. Would be nice if the D didn't follow up both of those by giving it right back with a 75-yard TD!Johnson has made some great calls, flea flicker and KD pass.it's not a perfect OL, that's for sure. Arizona made some plays and the Buffs blew some assignments at times. I'd say a B-minus is a fair grade. This is a group still developing. I think the talent is solid, but they've got a long way to go.Brian, thanks for the chats, insights, etc.i thought the Oline generally did pretty well, a C+ B--. the breakdowns at key times killed drives - it seemed that UA's DTs would shoot the A or B gap way before the play could develop. do you agree? if so, is it talent, experience, assignment confusion, bad line calls ...?It's a legit question. He and Tucker know each other. they both have Georgia ties. And, Bobo is known as a good OC. I just don't think CU moves on from Johnson that quickIf Mike BOBO leaves CSU, any chance he comes here as OFF Coor? He is really good at that. Our present guy is good too, but maybe not as good.Brian, I believe the answer to this question from Denverbuff is WTF are you thinking asking that??Hard to say with punters. I thought Darragh O'Neill had NFL ability but he never made it. I think Kinney is of that caliber. I think Stefanou will be back, but if he keeps this up and makes a run at the Groza Award, I could see him leaving. Will Kinney hook up with an NFL team? Will Stefanou be back next year?If you're asking about Sami, I don't think it's season-ending.Which Jalen are you asking about? Was Jalen's injury season ending? He was starting to really have an impact. It's always been true. Two years ago, when fans were upset Landman wasn't playing, LB coach Ross Els told me it was because Landman was struggling with pass coverage. Last year, we saw the coaching staff pull Landman off the field a lot on third downs - in part to preserve him, but probably not a coincidence that he was coming off the field on passing downs. There’s been talk over the last 2 games about Landman having problems with his pass coverage was this true last year and if not what has changedGives him one more year to see if he can get any better. I'm of the belief that he gets fired before he gets to a bowl game, though. What do you think UCLA does about Chip KellyThanks! I was very surprised Stanford knocked off Washington. I figured Washington would come away with a fairly easy win. Oregon State winning at UCLA wasn't a surprise, but I was surprised it was a blowout.Brian, thanks for your comments as always. want to say anything about the games around the conference on Sat? its a Topsy Turvey league to say the leastI don't know. That's been an odd deal. He looked healthy on the sidelines, but Tucker said no one has been benched, so he clearly wasn't ready. What's up with PursellJust to put it in perspective, they just held Arizona to 83 yards, one game after holding ASU - with Eno Benjamin - to 108. So, they're pretty solid against the run. I still think 6-6 is possible.Fair enough, 300 was what it feels like 😉 I am still calling for 6-6 what do you think?I would have felt better about it had they won last week, but I think this team is very capable of getting there. UCLA and Stanford are very winnable games. Get those and they're at 5 wins. Between USC and Washington State, they'll probably need to get one of those.Do you think colorado will make a bowl game?Lots of missed assignments and short passes. He took advantage of that all day.It seems like Tate never had to throw into tight coverage.(Except for the INT) Most times the receivers were wide open. Missed assignments?.Yes, I think Tony Brown is working his way into the draft. I agree on KD. I think he's got NFL ability, but I think he'd be wise to stick around next year.Tony Brown is our best WR not named Viska. Do you think he gets drafted this spring? Likewise, I think KD would be foolish to test the draft this year. He's got a better chance if he can show off his skills more.Because he can be. I would guess 95 percent of college coaches, if not more, don't like to talk about injuries. Mike Leach, for example, won't do it at all. Kevin Sumlin doesn't either. Most of them don't. There's no rule that says they have to tell everybody about the injuries. Why do you think Mel Tucker has been so hush hush on the injuries this year?Rice is announcing today, and I think CU has a good chance.I mourn the lack of depth, but love the attitude of this team. They play hard, get coached up and do not make excuses. Big kudos to the kids that score who act like they have been there and just hand the ball to the ref. Um, no question in there was there? How about, what is your guess that B-Rice commits to CU this week? They did just hold Arizona to 83 yards rushing - about 170 below their average. And, with the exception of a few big pass plays, they did a good job there. Arizona ran 67 offensive plays, and I'd say the defense was pretty solid on all but about 8-10 of them. The problem is giving up those big plays. And, they haven't given up 300 yards to anybody (284 to Air Force, which rushes for that weekly almost). If you're noticing, there are a LOT of young guys playing and they have a lot of key guys hurt. So, I wouldn't put this on coaching.Do we have a Defense? I feel like they can not stop anyone. Running game or passing game. Every time I think they are going to do better they give up 400 yards passing! Or they give up 300 plus yards rushing! Is it the coach or complete lack of talent? You would think with an O scoring 30 plus points we would win games! Signed Tired of the same ole S$%THe's certainly putting himself in position to get drafted. He looks like an NFL type of receiver to me.Do you think Tony Brown will get drafted? No doubt. James Stefanou and Alex Kinney are having great seasons.Special Teams are really SPECIAL this year. So nice to see after they were poor for so many years. It's been a crazy year, that's for sure!Who would of thought that CU would have the same record as Washington. In the PAC 12, who knows what team will win on a particular weekendEven with Mustafa out, I don't think he even dressed for the game, so no, I wouldn't count on him.CU got a JUCO off guard who was supposed to be a beast. They moved him to D line recently. How is he doing and can he be the disruptive force we need until MJ gets back? That was a spectacular play!On a positive note did you see Tedric Thompson's amazing INT in the game against the Rams this week? Wow: twitter.comI agree. While injuries are a big deal, that's not why they lost. Too many mistakes killed them.I find it encouraging that even with all the injuries, the game was there for the taking.I wouldn't see Tucker firing Jay Johnson just to jump at getting Mike Bobo.If Mike BOBO leaves CSU, any chance he comes here as OFF Coor? He is really good at that. Our present guy is good too, but maybe not as good. It's been better, I agree. Not great, but it's been better. Two straight games without allowing a sack is nice to see.Off line has really improved. sure the players got better but I think the coaching really made the difference. What are your thoughts?Maybe a slight uptick, but this staff also knows you have to win to really make a significant impact. When this coaching staff was hired, a key foundation for them was that they would recruit at a level higher than what we've seen in the past. Have you noticed an uptick in recruiting efforts to date?Maybe, but I think Tucker would rather build this thing through young talent. I love the future of the DL because of the experience these guys are getting. Imagine next year with everybody back.Do you think they will sign some Graduate Sr to the defense this recruiting cycle? We sure miss the freshman def lineman who went back to OK and the one from the SEC who signed but didn't comeYou'd think. Although it would be tough to ignore Brown the way he's playing.I loved watching Tony Brown stiff arm one AU defender near the end of his TD run and taking out three of them in the process. Classic. If we could just get Laviska back Brown would get even more balls and less attention.Hard to really say without knowing who plays, but right now, I'd say 38-21 Oregon. If we have as many starters out for Oregon as we do now it's going to be ugly fast and on national TV Friday night. Ugh. What's your prediction of the score now? Herbert is going to eat our secondary alive. I'd love to see an upset, but my money is on 56-20.Either Tyler Lytle or someone not currently on the team.Who do you think will win the starting QB job next year?Parity. It's a conference filled with good teams, but not a great one.
