The University of Colorado volleyball team won its first match of the Colorado Classic on Friday. The Buffs beat Oakland in four sets (25-14, 25-12, 24-26, 25-14).

The Buffs (6-2) rebounded for two straight losses to rival Colorado State with a dominating performance against the Golden Grizzlies.

Justine Spann continued her strong start to the season. Spann hit at a percentage of .563 for the night. She ended up with 21 kills in the victory. Meegan Hart who set a school record for best hitting percentage in a 4-set match and best hitting percentage by a sophomore, had 10 kills for the Buffs.

The Buffs broke the school record for hitting percentage in a four-set match at .490 on Friday.

The Buffs also got a strong match from Jenna Ewert. Ewert finished the match with 51 assists as well as 11 digs.

Oakland was led by Brittany Welch with 15 kills. AnnaBelle Tomei (18) and Madison Ross (15) finished with double-digit assists.

The Buffs will continue the Colorado Classic on Saturday with two matches at the CU Events Center. The Buffs face UMBC at noon and then play Campbell at 7:30 p.m.
