Delrick Abrams Jr.
Numbers: Abrams was the only player on the team to play all 78 snaps on defense last week in a 52-31 win against Colorado State. He had a rough start, finished strong and capped his night with eight tackles.
Potential impact vs. Nebraska: Abrams is likely to spend much of his afternoon covering Huskers star receiver JD Spielman. A junior, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound Spielman caught just two passes for 36 yards last week against South Alabama, but he’s got 123 catches for 1,684 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Abrams said: “I was really pleased with how we recovered (after a tough start vs. CSU). Our communication got better in the second half, so we just kept working, kept fighting and just pushed through. We tried to keep our heads up and pick each other up. The second half, after halftime, we made some adjustments, so we came out and executed. I can tell we can really execute; we just have to keep working. It’s going to be a good game (against Nebraska). They’re a good team.”
