Daniel O’Loughlin shot a 2-under 68 on the first day of the NCAA golf regional being played at Palouse Ridge Golf Course in Pullman, Wash., giving him solid positioning on the individual leaderboard representing the Colorado Buffaloes.
O’Loughlin carded a 33 on the back 9, climbing back into the top 20 to finish in a tie for 19th after coming out even on the front 9. He birdied the par 4 12th hole and then knocked in a birdie on the par 5 18th hole to secure his score. Overall, O’Loughlin had five birdies, one bogey and one double-bogey.
Three other players shot 68, while 50 players shot even par or better for the tournament — which is just the first step in making the NCAA Championships later this month.
Three players shot rounds of 64 to take an early lead at the competitive event. Second round play begins Tuesday morning.
