Colorado continues to add some power to its future football schedules.
On Wednesday, CU announced future home-and-home sets with a pair of Southeastern Conference teams: Florida (2028 and 2029) and Missouri (2025 and 2030).
CU and Missouri are former conference rivals who have played each other 75 times on the gridiron, with the last meeting coming in 2010, when both were members of the Big 12. The annual rivalry ended when CU left for the Pac-12 in 2011. In 2012, Missouri joined the SEC.
Missouri will visit Boulder on Sept. 20, 2025, while CU visits Columbia, Mo., on Sept. 7, 2030.
The Buffaloes have never faced Florida, but will visit the Gators in Gainesville, Fla., on Sept. 9, 2028. The Gators are scheduled to play at Folsom Field on Sept. 8, 2029.
Florida has not played a true non-conference road game outside of the state of Florida since Sept. 21, 1991, at Syracuse. The 2029 trip to Boulder is the only out-of-state game the Gators have scheduled for the future. The last time Florida played this far west in the regular season was a 1983 trip to Southern California.
CU’s non-conference schedule is now filled through 2028 and the Buffs have 32 nonconference games scheduled through 2030. Of those, 19 are against Power 5 programs and seven against in-state opponents. Just two of the 32 are against opponents from the Football Championship Subdivision.
In addition to the sets with Florida and Missouri, CU announced a future date with Northern Colorado.
Massachusetts was originally scheduled to play in Boulder for the 2021 season opener, but UMass is rearranging its future schedules and will now come to Folsom Field for the 2028 opener. To fill the 2021 spot, CU is now scheduled to face UNC, on Sept. 4, 2021.
UNC visited Boulder on Sept. 16, 2017 – the first meeting between the Buffs and Bears since 1934.
Over the next decade, CU’s schedule includes only a few matchups with in-state rival Colorado State.
The Buffs and Rams have played annually in the Rocky Mountain Showdown since 1995 and the series will continue through 2020. From 2021-28, the two teams will meet just twice: 2023 in Boulder and 2024 in Fort Collins.
According to a CU press release, officials from the two schools are working on future meetings, with CU holding dates in 2029 and beyond.
This year’s Rocky Mountain Showdown, scheduled or Aug. 30 at Broncos Stadium at Mile High, is the last game slated to be played in Denver.
