The Colorado football team received its second verbal commitment for the class of 2020 on Sunday.

Joe Perkins, a safety from Madison-Ridgeland Academy in Mississippi, announced his pledge on Twitter. He was in Boulder on an unofficial visit this weekend.

Perkins is listed at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds and he has a three-star rating from both and He also plays receiver at Madison-Ridgeland.

As a junior last fall, he recorded 53 tackles, four interceptions and five tackles for loss, earning all-state honors. On offense, he caught 34 passes for 577 yards and seven touchdowns.

Perkins joins Cherry Creek High School offensive lineman Carson Lee on CU’s commitment list for 2020. Lee gave CU his pledge on Feb. 2.

According to 247Sports, Perkins has 13 scholarship offers, including from Arkansas State, Army, Navy and Western Michigan.
