Coach Tad Boyle”s Colorado Buffaloes will face Northern Iowa for the first time as part of the 2019-20 nonconference schedule.

Only a few pieces remain to be filled for the Colorado men’s basketball schedule for 2019-20.

On Thursday, CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported that Northern Iowa will be included in the Buffaloes’ nonconference home slate next season. It will be the first matchup for the Buffs against the Northern Iowa, which went 16-18 this past season but nearly stole the Missouri Valley Conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament before losing to Bradley in the league title game. The Panthers are set to return five of their top six scorers.

The addition of Northern Iowa leaves just three open dates remaining for CU’s 2019-20 12-game nonconference schedule, with at least two of those open spots likely to be filled by home dates.

CU hosts San Diego in the completion of a two-for-one arrangement with the Toreros, and the Buffs also will host two mid-major foes as part of the MGM Resorts Main Event. CU will also play two games in that event in Las Vegas against either TCU, Clemson, or Wyoming.

The Buffs travel to Colorado State and are committed to two other prominent neutral court dates — first a nonconference match against Pac-12 rival Arizona State in the league’s annual game in China, and an NIT rematch against Dayton in Chicago on Dec. 21.

Tickets to that Chicago Legends doubleheader at the United Center, which includes a game between Iowa and Cincinnati, are now available through
