The Colorado women’s basketball team has a tough hill to climb in the Pac-12 Tournament this week in Las Vegas.
On Sunday, the conference released the bracket for the tournament, which begins Thursday and runs through Sunday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
CU (12-17, 2-16 Pac-12) finished the regular season last in the conference for the second time in the last four years and will take on 21st-ranked and fifth-seeded Arizona State (19-9, 10-7) in the first round. Tipoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. MT on Thursday and the game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.
Since joining the Pac-12 before the 2011-12 season, the Buffs are 5-2 in first-round tournament games. In their previous time as the No. 12 seed, however, they were knocked off by Washington in 2016.
Overall, CU has a 6-7 record in the Pac-12 Tournament over the past seven years.
No. 6-ranked Oregon is the No. 1 seed for the second consecutive season. The Ducks (27-3, 16-2) clinched the title with a win against ASU on Sunday. Oregon won the tournament last year.
