After a season-opening loss last week against No. 6 Florida, the Colorado women’s lacrosse team will try to get back on track during a tough assignment Saturday at No. 14 Virginia Tech. A look at the matchup:

KEY PLAYERS: Colorado (2018 stats) — A Miranda Stinson, Sr., 58 goals, 19 assists; A Samantha Nemirov, Sr., 39 goals, nine assists; GK Julia Lisella, Jr., .503 save percentage, 9.34 goals-against average. Virginia Tech (2019 stats) — MF Emma Crooks, So., five goals, one assist; MF Paige Petty, So., four goals, one assist; GK Morgan Berman, So., .370 save percentage, 8.76 goals-against average.

NOTES: The Buffs opened the season with a 16-9 home loss last week against Florida in a rematch from last spring’s NCAA Tournament. Stinson, Sadie Grozier, and Charlie Rudy scored two goals apiece for CU…A loss would give CU its first 0-2 start in the program’s six-year existence…CU topped Virginia Tech 18-3 last year at home in the first meeting between the programs. Nemirov and since-graduated Carly Cox tallied four goals apiece…CU didn’t record a single assist on its nine goals during last week’s opening loss against Florida…Virginia Tech opened the season with a win against Bucknell before losing last week at No. 4 James Madison…The Buffs return home for two consecutive games beginning Feb. 22 against nationally-ranked Stony Brook.
