CU women’s lacrosse team picked second in Pac-12 preseason poll

Following up on a 9-1 Pac-12 record in 2018, the Colorado women’s lacrosse team was picked second in the conference’s preseason coaches poll announced Monday — just slightly behind favorite Stanford.

The Buffs earned 21 points, which included one first-place vote, to finish behind the Cardinal, who received five first-place votes and 25 points.

Southern California placed third in the poll with 17 points and Oregon came in fourth (13 points). California was fifth overall (eight points) and Arizona State was selected sixth (six points).

Colorado won the regular season Pac-12 Championship last year with that 9-1 mark, but fell in the tournament championship to Stanford, which was 8-2 in league play.

The regular season officially gets underway for the Buffs on Saturday, when they host Florida (Kittredge Field, noon).
