Colorado’s Taylor Kornieck and the Buffs have a pivotal matchup on Sunday with No. 1 Stanford.

The Colorado women’s soccer team already has put together a memorable season, with a third consecutive NCAA Tournament berth — and the fifth in six seasons — imminent for the 15th-ranked Buffaloes.

But CU has an opportunity to make a statement against some of the most nationally-renowned programs in NCAA soccer down the stretch, a run that begins Sunday at top-ranked and defending national champion Stanford. A look at the matchup:

No. 15 Colorado soccer at No. 1 Stanford

Korneick also has moved into fourth-place on the Buffs’ career points list with 70…The Buffs are 0-9 all-time against the Cardinal, getting outscored by a total of 23-3 in those nine matches…Stanford stars DiBiasi (Chatfield High) and Smith (Fossil Ridge) are Colorado natives.
