Anyse Smith and the rest of the Colorado volleyball team will look to continue its recent dominance of Cal on Friday night at the CU Events Center.

After a grueling opening run within Pac-12 Conference play that saw the Colorado volleyball team take on four consecutive top-25 foes, the Buffaloes will get an opportunity to regroup at home against a Cal club that has yet to win a league game.

The respite against big-time opponents will be short, as No. 2 Stanford visits the CU Events Center Sunday in the finale of the homestand. Here is a look at the Friday night battle against Cal:

Cal at Colorado volleyball

Game time: Friday, 8 p.m., CU Events Center.

Broadcast: Pac-12 Mountain.

Records: Cal 8-7, 0-4 Pac-12 Conference; CU 9-6, 1-3.

Notes: This is the first of four consecutive home games for the Buffs, who host Stanford on Sunday (noon, Pac-12 Network) and the Oregon schools next week…CU has won six of its past seven contests against Cal, including a three-set win on the road last year in the teams’ only meeting. Brynna DeLuzio, then a freshman, enjoyed a big game with 44 assists and 14 digs…After being ranked at No. 23 last week the Buffs barely dropped out of this week’s top 25, unofficially landing at No. 26 as the top squad among others receiving votes after losing road matches against two nationally-ranked foes in Washington and Washington State…After an 8-2 start Cal has lost five consecutive games.
