The Colorado women’s soccer team has put together the longest unbeaten streak to start a season in program history, and for the first time the Buffaloes completed the nonconference schedule without a loss. The competition will become far more challenging as the No. 23-ranked Buffs begin play in the Pac-12 Conference, which features three teams in the top 10 and four in the top 15 of this week’s United Soccer Coaches national poll.

A look at the Buffs’ league opener at Oregon State:

Notes: The Buffs are likely to still be without Kornieck and starting defender Erin Greening, both of whom have been sidelined with injuries. “I think there will be some game-time decisions,” CU head coach Danny Sanchez said. “Erin most likely will still be out. Taylor is closer.”…The Buffs scored at least three goals only four times in 22 games last year. They have reached that mark six times in nine games already this season…CU goalies Watson and Tompkins rank first and second, respectively, in the Pac-12 in save percentage…Sophomore Marty Puketapu scored the lone goal in a 1-0 CU win at OSU last year…The Buffs have won four of their past five games against OSU and lead the series 4-3-1…The Beavers’ lone victory was a 1-0 home win against Dartmouth on Sept. 2. OSU has been outscored 19-3 in its seven losses…The Buffs continue their Pac-12 schedule next week at Arizona State and Arizona.
