Colorado senior Jorian Baucom scored two goals in the Buffaloes’ 3-0 win against Utah Valley on Thursday.

The Colorado women’s soccer team has an opportunity to make history Sunday afternoon, as a victory against the University of Denver would give the Buffaloes their first unbeaten mark in nonconference play in league history.

CU continued its longest unbeaten streak to start a season with a 3-0 victory Thursday against Utah Valley, but the Pioneers will be seeking payback against a rival that defeated DU in the NCAA Tournament last fall. A look at the matchup:

Notes: It’s a rematch from last year’s NCAA Tournament first-round battle won by CU, and with both teams likely to land in the postseason again Buffs coach Danny Sanchez hopes to see a strong crowd at Prentup. “I think it’s really important on Sunday the Boulder community comes out and supports this group,” Sanchez said. “On Sunday, one o’clock against our rivals after a big Buff football win on Saturday hopefully, I’d love to get a lot of energy and passion (at Prentup). It’s going to be NCAA Tournament-quality atmosphere and two teams that should be in the NCAA Tournament.”…Kornieck is expected to miss her fourth match due to injury. CU also will be without starting defenders Erin Greening and Hannah Cardenas, who have knee injuries…Barton and DU’s Wilson were classmates at Columbine High School. CU midfielder Libby Geraghty and DU’s Halvorson attended Cherry Creek together…The Buffs open Pac-12 Conference play with three consecutive road matches, a run that begins Friday at Oregon State. CU makes the two-game trip through Arizona the following week.
