Junior outside hitter Justine Spann has enjoyed a solid start to her junior season for the Colorado volleyball team.

Still shorthanded with senior middle blocker Naghede Abu sidelined due to an injury, the Colorado volleyball squad finally will host its first home game after five road matches over the season’s first two weeks. CU will play three matches in about 25 hours at the Buffs Invitational, beginning Friday night against Georgia. A look at the matchup:

Georgia at No. 24 Colorado

Game time: Friday, 6 p.m., CU Events Center.

Records: Georgia 6-0; CU 3-2.

Notes: Friday’s match is the opener of the Buffs Invitational. CU will play two matches on Saturday, hosting North Carolina at noon and Oklahoma at 7 p.m…Going into the season outside hitter Justine Spann had a career-best kills total of 12. Given a bigger opportunity with the preseason departure of Frankie Shebby, Spann has topped that mark three times in the Buffs’ first five matches, including 13 kills in Saturday’s win against Iowa…CU is 3-2 all-time against Georgia but hasn’t faced the Bulldogs since 1998. The Buffs haven’t played North Carolina in 10 years…The Buffs posted a four-set win at Oklahoma last year…This is the first of six consecutive home matches over two weekends for the Buffs. CU hosts the Colorado Classic next week with a field that includes Portland State, Indiana State, and Colorado State. The Colorado Classic will mark the final nonconference matches before the start of Pac-12 play.
