The Colorado women’s basketball team found its collective shooting touch in the Buffaloes’ first game of its tour through Italy.
On Thursday, the Buffs topped Italian Select 82-36, shooting .397 from the floor while posting a whopping rebounding advantage of 74-33.
Three players scored in double figures for CU, led by 15 points from senior guard Kennedy Leonard. Leonard made her only 3-point attempt and finished 6-for-8 from the floor. Monarch graduate Peyton Carter went 3-for-6 on 3-pointers and finished with 12 points, while Annika Jank recorded a double-double with 10 points and a team-leading 10 rebounds. Every player on the Buffs’ roster played at least 14 minutes.
Defensively, the Buffs limited Italian Select to a .197 showing (14-for-71) from the floor. CU blew the game open by outscoring the hosts 17-5 in the second quarter.
Thursday’s game was played near Florence in Ponte Buggianesse. The tour continues with a game Sunday in Venice and finishes in Costa Masnaga on Tuesday.
