CU Buffs Petter Reistad, Sarah Brown named Pac-12 Hansen Medal winners

    New Colorado graduate Sarah Brown, a Boulder native, was named the 2018 Pac-12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year.



Skier Petter Reistad and lacrosse player Sarah Brown were named the University of Colorado’s recipients of the Pac-12 Tom Hansen Conference Medal for the 2017-18 school year.

The honor his given to two athletes from each member school, one male and one woman, who exhibit “the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.”

Reistad was a six-time All-American for the Buffaloes who finished second at the 2018 NCAA finals in the Nordic 10K classic. The native of Norway posted a 3.961 GPA as a finance major.

Brown was the defensive leader for a CU women’s lacrosse team that posted the first NCAA Tournament victory in the program’s five-year history. Brown, a Boulder native, was named the Pac-12’s Defensive Player of the Year and graduated this spring with a degree in strategic communication with a minor in environmental design. Brown helped lead CU to the Pac-12 regular season championship and was drafted last month by the New York Flight of the Women’s Professional Lacrosse League.

Among the other recipients of the Tom Hansen Medal around the league was Monarch graduate Claire Green, who recently completed her track and cross country career at Arizona. Green was a member of Arizona’s student-athlete advisory committee and earned three All-American honors with the Wildcats.
