Colorado men’s basketball coach Tad Boyle has repeatedly lauded the passion and drive that assistant Kim English has brought to the Buffaloes program since he was hired last summer.

Those traits also have impressed the rest of English’s coaching brethren.

On Tuesday, the National Association of Basketball Coaches listed English among its Under Armour 30-under-30 honorees. The recognition is reserved to recognize “up and coming young coaches in men’s college basketball.”

The 29-year old English played in 41 games with the Detroit Pistons during the 2012-13 season after getting selected in the second round of the 2012 draft. He spent two seasons playing professionally overseas before pursing a calling to coach, joining the staff at Tulsa for two seasons before moving to CU.

English joined CU’s program last year after Jean Prioleau, an original member of Boyle’s staff, took the head coach job at San Jose State.
