CU women’s basketball gets commitment from 6-foot-4 center

The Colorado Buffaloes could be adding some much-needed muscle to its roster.

CU recently got a verbal commitment from Kai Volcy, a 6-foot-4 center from New Jersey.

Rich Leary, Volcy’s coach with the New Jersey Demons club team, posted her commitment on Twitter last week.

Volcy graduated from the Groton School, in Groton, Mass., in 2017. She then played this past year at the Hun School, a prep school in Princeton, N.J.

At Hun, Volcy averaged 12.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.3 blocks in 20 games.

Volcy would become the third member of CU’s 2018 recruiting class, joining guard Cameron Swartz of Marietta, Ga., and forward Sirena “Peanut” Tuitele of Chico, Calif.

CU has nine players returning, but not much of a post presence. Center Zoe Correal graduated, while forward Janea Bunn and center Jaimie Curtis will not return to the team next season.
