Ola Johansen of the University of Colorado ski team was named Friday as the 2018 RMISA Male Alpine Athlete of the Year that is voted on by league membership.
This is the second consecutive season a Buffalo has won the men’s alpine award; Johansen following up on David Ketterer’s 2017 honor.
Johansen finished third in the giant slalom and seventh in the slalom at the NCAA Championships. He tied for the men’s alpine lead with three race wins and led the league with eight podium and 10 top five finishes in earning RMISA regular season MVP honors.
In his three-year career at Colorado that now comes to a close, he was a three-time All-American and two-time RMISA MVP.
He had 17 podium finishes as a Buffalo, tying for the 10th most in Colorado history but second among alpine skiers. He won a total of six races as a Buff, ranking fifth all-time among CU alpine skiers.
