The Colorado women’s lacrosse team is making an early statement in the Pac-12 Conference’s weekly honors.

Just three weeks into the Pac-12’s first year as a women’s lacrosse league, and the Buffaloes already have received their second Offensive Player of the Week honor. On Monday senior attacker Darby Kiernan received the award following her standout performance in CU’s 17-12 win against San Diego State in its home opener Sunday.

Junior midfielder Miranda Stinson won the very first Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week award two weeks ago.

Kiernan recorded a season-high five goals in the victory over the Aztecs, which included one free-position goal and two unassisted goals. The senior from Ridgewood, N.J., put seven of her eight shots on goal and recorded half of CU’s 20 draw controls.

It is the third offensive player of the week honor of Kiernan’s career.

The No. 22-ranked Buffs (2-2) are in the midst of a four-game home stand and will host No. 19 Virginia Tech at noon Sunday at at Kittredge Field. CU has won its last 12 straight games at home dating back to the 2016 season.
