CU women’s basketball to face Utah first in Pac-12 tourney

Colorado will take the No. 9 seed into the Pac-12 women’s basketball tournament this week.

On Sunday, the conference officially announced the bracket for this year’s event, which runs Thursday-Sunday at Key Arena in Seattle.

CU (14-15, 5-13 Pac-12) will face No. 8 Utah (17-12, 8-10) in Thursday’s opening round at 12:30 p.m. The winner will face league champion Oregon (27-4, 16-2) in the quarterfinals on Friday at 12:30 p.m.

The last time the Buffs were the No. 9 seed, in 2015, they made a run to the semifinals, including an upset of top-seeded Oregon State in the quarterfinals. That 68-65 victory against the Beavers was CU’s last win in this event, however.

CU has lost in the first round each of the past two years and has a 5-6 all-time record in this tournament.
