The Colorado Buffaloes women’s tennis team began its dual-match season here Saturday with a narrow 4-3 win over in-state rival Colorado State at the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center.

After winning the doubles point, the Buffs lost the first two singles points that included an injury to junior Annabelle Andrinopoulos that forced her to retire from the match.

CU recovered from the 1-2 deficit to win three of the final four singles matches to take home the victory.

Junior Brigitte Beck clinched the final match of the afternoon with a three-set win over CSU’s Emma Corwin, 2-6, 7-6, 6-1.

The Buffs took the doubles point with wins from the pairings of senior Louise Ronaldson and junior Jeannez Daniel over CSU’s Alyssa Grijalva and Priscilla Palermo, 6-3, as well as Beck and sophomore Chloe Hule over CSU’s Emily Kolbow and Emma Corwin, 6-3.

Two of CU’s singles wins came in straight-sets as freshman Linda Huang defeated CSU’s Emily Lueschwager, 7-6, 7-6, and junior Ilana Oleynik took down CSU’s Solen Crawley, 6-1, 6-0.

The Buffs remain undefeated against the Rams with Saturday’s win being the 33rd all-time.

Next weekend, the women’s tennis team travels to Greeley to take on Northern Colorado on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. and return home on Sunday, Jan. 28 to face Denver at 11 a.m.
