On several occasions during the Colorado men’s basketball team’s lackluster loss Tuesday night against San Diego, freshman McKinley Wright pulled up lame with a visible limp.
Yet if the standout guard is attempting to play through an injury, the Buffs aren’t revealing it. Asked afterward if Wright indeed is trying to play through a physical issue, head coach Tad Boyle said simply, “I don’t know.”
Regardless, Wright struggled through the most frustrating shooting performance of his young career, going 3-for-10 from the field. Wright went 5-for-6 at the free throw line, allowing the rookie to finish with 12 points and continue his career-opening streak of scoring in double figures to 10 games. Yet after posting five assists against two turnovers Saturday at nationally-ranked Xavier, Wright managed just one assist against San Diego with three turnovers.
