Colorado volleyball setter Brynna DeLuzio has earned the Pac-12 Conference Freshman for the Week award for the third time this season.

The Colorado volleyball team is on a roll. As is freshman setter Brynna DeLuzio.

On Monday, DeLuzio was named the Pac-12 Conference Freshman of the Week for the third time this season following CU’s victories at then-No. 15 Oregon and Oregon State. DeLuzio also won the honor for the weeks of Sept. 18 and Oct. 2. Only one other Pac-12 freshman, Mac May from UCLA, has won the honor twice.

It is the fifth Pac-12 weekly honor of the season for the Buffs (17-6, 7-5 Pac-12). Junior outside hitter Alexa Smith won the Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 18, and junior middle blocker Naghede Abu was named Defensive Player of the Week Oct. 2.

DeLuzio recorded 47 assists and nine digs in each of the Buffs’ road wins over the weekend. DeLuzio leads the league in total assists (1,012) and ranks second in assists per set (11.24).

The Buffs have won five of their past six matches, including the past four road games. They begin the week in fifth place in the league standings and, unofficially, ranked 26th in the country as the top team in this week’s national poll among others receiving votes. The Buffs are No. 17 in the RPI.

CU is back in action this week at home Wednesday night against Washington State (7 p.m.) followed by a Friday night home date against No. 11 Washington (6 p.m.)
