Colorado defensive lineman Javier Edwards sprained his ankle in the Buffs’ loss to the Wildcats.

CU is dealing with injuries to its top two nose tackles this week, with Javier Edwards and Lyle Tuiloma both listed as “day to day” on the injury report.

Edwards sprained his ankle during the second half of Saturday’s game. Tuiloma suffered a concussion during practice on Oct. 3.

Cornerback Trey Udoffia is listed as probable to play against Oregon State. He sprained his knee during the first of CU’s game at UCLA on Sept. 30 and did not play against Arizona.

Too many flags

CU has been one of the most penalized teams in the country this year, averaging 7.83 per game. That’s on pace to be the highest number in the MacIntyre era.

Head coach Mike MacIntyre said that while some of the penalties are out of aggressive play, he would like to see the Buffs cut down on holding, false start and offsides penalties.

“I’d say we would drastically cut down in the last half of the year,” he said. “I’d be extremely disappointed if we don’t.”

While some Pac-12 coaches have complained about late start times, MacIntyre said he understands teams have to deal with them. “You sign contracts with television and they own you,” he said. “That makes it tough for people to watch as much on the East coast, but ESPN knows what they’re doing. They get the fans, they get the commercials they want, they make the money they want. We understand that’s how it works, and I love us being on ESPN.” … MacIntyre is 2-2 against Oregon State, with two consecutive wins. OSU is the only Pac-12 team MacIntyre has defeated twice.
