Frank Umu has been dismissed from the Colorado football program, head coach Mike MacIntyre announced on Tuesday.
A redshirt sophomore defensive lineman, Umu was suspended in late August and has not played this season.
According to a press release from CU, “due to FERPA and privacy concerns, MacIntyre cannot comment on the reason for his dismissal.”
The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Umu was named, along with Lyle Tuiloma, the most improved defensive lineman in the spring.
Umu played in 11 games last season, mostly on special teams. He was part of the PAT/field goal team and played 18 snaps on defense.
A graduate of Heritage High School in Littleton, Umu earned all-Colorado honors as a senior in 2014 and was a part of CU’s 2015 recruiting class.
