Colorado’s game against Northern Colorado, scheduled for Sept. 16 at Noon at Folsom Field, will be one of at least six games the Pac-12 will use as part of a pilot program to shorten games.
All non-conference games on the Pac-12 Networks (which includes each of CU’s first three games), will have shorter break times between the first and second quarters and between the third and fourth quarters.
The CU-UNC game will also utilize a condensed break format. That format will cut up to four addition minutes of break time, and both teams had to agree to reducing halftime from 20 minutes to 15 minutes.
The format is designed to shorten the game length by up to 10 minutes and the broadcast window by up to 15 minutes. The Pac-12 will evaluate the program after the season.
Former Texas Tech receiver Tony Brown, who announced this summer he is transferring to CU, arrived in Boulder on Wednesday and is now officially on the roster. Brown, who caught 27 passes for 378 yards and a touchdown in two seasons at Tech, will sit out this season because of the NCAA transfer rule.
