After finishing last season at No. 17 in the Associated Press Top 25 – their first Top 20 finish since 2002 – the Colorado Buffaloes are in familiar territory to start this year: unranked.
The preseason AP poll was released on Monday, with the Buffs 10th among the “others receiving votes,” basically putting them No. 35.
Alabama took the No. 1 spot, with 52 of 61 first-place votes. Ohio State is at No. 2, Florida State at No. 3, USC at No. 4 and defending national champion Clemson at No. 5.
In addition to USC, Washington (No. 8), Stanford (No. 14) and Washington State (No. 24) are ranked from the Pac-12. Utah (No. 27), Oregon (No. 33) and UCLA (No. 37) were among the others receiving votes.
CU has not been ranked in the preseason polls since 2002.
