Colorado picked up commitment No. 14 for its 2018 football recruiting class on Saturday.

Kahlef Hailassie, a cornerback from Cosumnes Oaks High School in Elk Grove, Calif., announced his commitment on Twitter. Hailassie is in Boulder for CU’s annual recruiting barbecue event.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder has a three-star rating from Scout.com. He has eight other offers, but CU is only offer from a Power 5 conference team. His offer list includes Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, San Jose State, UNLV and Wyoming.

As a junior at Cosumnes Oaks, Hailassie registered 64 tackles, two fumble recoveries and an interception. Also a receiver, he caught 31 passes for 614 yards and seven touchdowns last season. In addition, he had 12 punt returns for 242 yards (20.2-yard average).

Hailassie is the third defensive back in CU’s 2018 class, joining cornerback Delrick Abrams from Independence (Kan.) Community College and safety Ray Robinson from Highlands Ranch High School.

CU has had seven players commit in the last month.
